Assistant Chief Trey Nelms is a second generation Firefighter that has been around the fire service his entire life. Trey has 25+ years in career and volunteer Fire Departments throughout Middle Tennessee. He has served in a wide variety of positions, from Probie to Chief of Department.

Trey serves as the PVVFD's Operations Chief and Training Officer. He lives in this community with his wife and son, and has volunteered with the PVVFD for 15 years.

Trey also serves as a career member of the Nashville (TN) Fire Department, where he has been employed since 1994.

Trey has an Associate's Degree in Fire Science, is a State of Tennessee Fire Instructor II, Fire Officer IV, and Paramedic. He is currently pursuing his BS in Fire Administration at Columbia Southern University. Trey is a well-known Instructor in a variety of fire and technical rescue subjects. He has a family based training business, and can also be found on YouTube in various training video. Trey has taught at national venues such as the Firehouse Expo, Wichita H.O.T., and the Metro Atlanta Firefighters Conference.
